Mark a class set of worksheets
Objective questions mark themselves as students work. Written answers come back with a drafted mark and feedback against your own marking guidance, for you to approve, adjust and return in one action.
When a class works through a worksheet, the marking splits into two halves. Multiple choice, fill in the blanks and checked code mark themselves as students go, with part marks for partly right answers. Written answers need judgement, and that is where the AI marking help earns its keep: it drafts a mark and feedback for every answer, against the marking guidance you wrote, and nothing reaches a student until you have approved it and chosen to return it.
1. Open the delivery
From Recently set work, open the worksheet you set. The top of the drawer is the state of play: how many students have finished, who has handed in, who has not started, and the marks total for the worksheet. Chips flag who needs attention; select one to filter the class list to those students.
2. Let the drafting happen
The AI marking panel drafts a mark and feedback for every written answer that has marking guidance. In practice you rarely press the button: when a due date passes or the whole class has handed in, the drafting starts on its own, so suggestions are usually waiting by the time you open the class. Mark work runs everything on demand, and Choose what to send lets you pick specific answers, with an honest note about anything it is leaving out and why.
3. Review by question, not by student
Suggestions arrive as Suggested marks to review, grouped by question, with a class average and a Check closely flag on the questions where the class struggled most. This is the calibration view: read a sample of answers to one question side by side, adjust anything you disagree with through Details and edit, then tick and Approve selected for the whole question at once.
Before approving, choose what students will eventually see: Mark and note, Mark only, or Teachers only for marks you want to keep internal.
4. Return it
Approving creates draft marks, and drafts are invisible to students. The single Return marks and feedback action is what sends everything: the confirmation tells you exactly how many marked answers are about to reach how many students, and anything held to teachers only stays held.
On the student's side, each question now shows its mark and your feedback in place, right under their answer.
The safeguards are worth knowing rather than assuming. Suggestions are drafted against your marking guidance, not invented from nowhere; every drafted item is labelled as AI-drafted until you approve it; and students never see AI anywhere on Coding Pathway. What reaches them is a mark their teacher approved, presented as exactly that.
Once the marks are in, the class summary turns them into what to teach next.
