Build and set exam practice with the new question bank

Choose questions, build a paper and set it to a class, with progress tracking and AI-drafted marks and feedback for you to review. Or download the paper and mark scheme to print.

Teaching Computer Science, two frustrations for me are exam-building tools that make assembling a paper more fiddly than it should be, and running short of good questions students haven't already seen for lessons, end-of-topic tests and mocks.

Coding Pathway's new question bank is my attempt to improve both. It launches with original questions and mark schemes for OCR J277, enough to put together around eight or nine complete papers. Edexcel 1CP2 and OCR H446 collections are also being worked on.

Choose questions and set them to a class

Open Exam papers, start a paper and filter by specification topic, question type, marks or difficulty. Preview questions and add the ones you want. Your paper stays alongside the bank, so you can reorder questions, organise sections and check the marks as you go.

I've put a lot of thought into making that quick and straightforward, whether you need a few questions for tomorrow's lesson or a full paper for revision.

Select Set to class to send the paper as an interactive Worksheet. Students answer on Coding Pathway, with their work ready for you to review question by question across the class. Leave out questions labelled Print only when building a paper for digital use.

Draft marks and feedback against the mark scheme

AI can draft marks and feedback for written answers across the class, using the supplied mark schemes. You check, edit and approve those suggestions before returning anything to students. Students never encounter AI on Coding Pathway.

That gives you a starting point for marking each response. The results also feed into class progress tracking, so you can see which questions students struggled with and plan what to revisit. Setting exam practice uses the same marking, feedback and tracking tools as your other classwork.

Download a paper to print

You can also preview and download formatted PDFs of the paper and its mark scheme. Use these for practice on paper, end-of-topic tests or mocks.

The exam paper export preview, with a formatted cover sheet for fictional Ferndale High School, a marks table and separate paper and mark scheme tabs.

These are original Coding Pathway questions, not official exam-board past-paper questions.

Open Exam papers in your teacher account if your school has access, or try the builder in the demo school. If you spot an issue with a question or mark scheme, please let me know.
